Earegular is quickly making quite the name for himself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of psychedelic glitch music. Both a maestro with the mid tempo and a dextrous downtempo designer, Sol Bateman has been consistently releasing an array of exceptionally glitchy sonic configurations equally suitable for dance floor bumpin’ or living room contemplation. Sol’s last project, “Optic Subba” was released through Colony Productions, a homegrown UK label started by Michael Wallis - a wonderful haven for fine-tuned glitch and stellar production. Now, Earegular has returned with his magnum opus - “Dribble Block,” a paradisiac batch of brilliant bounce-driven ballads.

The opening track, “Crystal Laced” induces instant ear-to-ear smiles. A mind-tickling progression of spinning clicks, gurgling glitch and the layered complexity of an onion from saturn. The title track, “Dribble Block” is all over the place, in the best way possible. Vibrations come from every which way, and the croaky sounds Sol has created interact with each other almost conversationally. The introductory wobble of “Soft Biscuits” is baffling at first… What is being shaken right now? The answer is your brain. Sol’s knack for creating dance floor glitch is on point - the phonic fluctuation in this one is unreal. The albums final track is the standout track of the EP. The inclusion of staccato strings creates an unfamiliar auditory terrain for listeners to traverse, but that signature Earegular sound remains intact throughout. Sol is no stranger to the peculiar, and its abundantly clear in the eastern-influenced, viscous slosher of “Whale Blubber.”

Earegular’s “Dribble Block” is a ridiculously well crafted display of what Sol is truly capable. It retains the sound we’ve come to know and love from previous works, but incorporates just enough unfamiliarity to expand upon Earegular’s catalog in a way that begs examination. This is not a release to be slept on - fans of glitch will be thoroughly impressed.
